The term is actually “adsorption” with a D in the context of activated charcoal. Charcoal works primarily by adsorbing substances, meaning toxins bind to its surface, rather than absorbing them into its structure. It’s a commonly mixed-up pair of terms, so easy mistake to make.

The word is absorption, with a B, not a D. No way it's a typo because you used it so many times. If you're going to create posts about medicinal uses of things, you need to get your words right to earn credibility. I know this article is about eight years old now, but I hope someone has helped you out here since its publication.

Hi Sherwin,

After washing the bite with soap and water, please apply a sterile bandage and use antibiotic ointment everyday to prevent infection. You can also add activated charcoal in the bandage to further help prevent infection.

If you were able to immediately wash the wound and treat it with topical antibiotic, you should be fine. Otherwise, please consult a doctor if you are concerned about bacteria introduction in the body from the bite.

Though it may not be necessary, you could take it internally as well. Always consult a doctor if you are taking medications, and be sure to follow the instructions on the label.
